Form-in-place gasket or FIPG
The mechanical seal that fills the space between two objects is known as a gasket. Gaskets are traditionally used to prevent any leakage between any objects while under compression. There are numerous types of gaskets and you should select the proper one based one functions.
A cured in place gasket offers many different benefits. At Bekmar, we offer capabilities that include three dimensional steps and curvatures. In a form in place gasket, FIPG, the material is released, distributed, and cured directly onto complex enclosures. This provides additional practicality, especially because traditional or standard gasket methods would be impractical. By offering this unique process, the form-in-place gasket performance is superior to traditional gaskets. A unique feature of a FIPG is that it can be dismantled and reassembled after extended use. This procedure will not harm or compromise the dispensed gasket or form-in-place gasket's performance.
Robotically dispensed gasket
With the dozens of types of gaskets on the market, it is imperative to choose the one that will provide you with optimal results. A robotically dispensed gasket is a way of automating the gasketing and sealing of component parts. This is typically used in the manufacturing of different plastic automotive, appliance, and electrical components. The robotic foam-in-place, FIP, gasketing system offers many advantages. By utilizing a robotically dispensed gasket you will be able to reduce the labor costs and have increased product and process design flexibility.
The foam in a FIP gasket is a void-filled polymer matrix. This is robotically applied to a specific part as either a liquid or a semi-liquid. This liquid or semi-liquid then cures to a solid on the part it was applied to. These foams are available in either one-component or two-component. Hotmelt or urethane moisture cure are examples of a one-component foam. Two-component examples are silicone and polyurethane. Gaskets dispensed this way offer an increase in placement accuracy.
